Welcome to EBCCC!

East Bentleigh Child Care Centre

provides quality long day care services for families who live or work in the surrounding community and is proud to have been operating for over 30 years. We are a not-for-profit centre that does not operate for commercial gain, but for the well-being of the children and their families. We take pride in maintaining an inclusive and engaging setting that welcomes involvement from parents and the wider community.

EBCCC is an Incorporated Association run by a volunteer parent committee.

A community run centre

EBCCC is a community-based childcare centre.

We are overseen by a parent committee who ensure that the centre continues to run efficiently and smoothly. This includes being involved with activities such as fundraising, overseeing policies and procedures, hiring of staff, and general maintenance of the centre and gardens. Having parents so closely involved in the day to day running of EBCCC creates a strong community feel that is highly valued by our families.

All parents are encouraged to become involved and there are many opportunities to do this:

  • as part of the committee of management
  • as part of a sub-committee
  • volunteering at events (e.g. working bees, sausage sizzles)
  • attending the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
  • sharing your skills/hobbies
  • participating in social events
  • helping with fundraising.

If you would like more information about how you can participate at EBCCC, please contact one of the members of staff or the committee (contact details can be found on the Centre noticeboard).

Being actively involved in the EBCCC community is a great way to meet other local parents as well as becoming more connected with your child’s day-to-day development.

Facilities

One of the greatest assets at EBCCC is our stunning outdoor area. We believe that it is the perfect setting for our children to build curiosity and respect for their natural surrounds – and have a great time while they’re doing it. The beautifully landscapes gardens are split into separate playground areas with age-appropriate equipment for each group. Our decked area provides the perfect setting for the older children to participate in yoga sessions, whilst the native trees and shrubs provide endless inspiration for our gardening program. The multi-level sand pit is an ongoing favourite with our younger children.

The building is equipped with air-conditioning and heating to ensure that the children remain comfortable at all times, as well as a purpose-built kitchen and recently renovated bathroom facilities.

The centre features two security entrances with coded locking systems as well as disabled access with intercom. Entrance into the centre is also pram friendly.

Learning Framework

At East Bentleigh Child Care Centre we base our planning on the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Victorian Early Years Learning Framework (VEYLF) developed for children aged from birth to eight.

The framework recognises that children’s learning and development takes place in the context of their families, and that families are children’s first and most important educators. Families provide children with the relationships, opportunities and the experiences that shape their learning and development.

It celebrates that families and communities are diverse, and children’s learning and development is enhanced when early childhood professionals respect their cultures and ways of knowing and being.

In particular, the framework recognises and respects indigenous cultures and the unique place of these in Victoria’s heritage and future. Learning about and valuing the place of first nation people will enhance all Victorian children’s sense of place in our community.

The Victorian Early Years Learning Framework (VEYLF) recognises that every child will take a unique path to the five outcomes and that all children will require different levels of support.
The five EYLF outcomes for all children are:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity.
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
  • Children are confident and involved learners.
  • Children are effective communicators.

These outcomes provide a shared language for all early childhood professionals to use when planning for children’s learning and development.

Staff

Our staff are truly are our greatest asset and we value the attributes and experience that they bring to our Centre. Their genuine passion for the development and well being of the children, combined with their friendly and positive nature is reflected in the quality of care provided and is what gives EBCCC its family atmosphere. Many of our staff have had a long tenure at EBCCC which we believe demonstrates that our Centre is a lovely place to be for both families and staff alike.
